Impact on Governments & Economies Worldwide
Government - The women’s rights movement has impacted government because more women are being elected into government positions and the more women on “board” the more feminine opinions and pro gender equality laws will be passed, thus reaching the ultimate goal of diminishing gender (and sexuality) discrimination. Also, women are the ones bringing up issues to the mainly patriarchal governments worldwide. Without women, the men wouldn't know how to address female based issues because they aren’t females. We can’t expect and man to make a woman’s decisions. A privilege women in the United States have fought for and gained is the right to vote. Women earned the right to vote in 1920 and since 1922 women have been serving on the Senate as a part of Congress. In the United States, women have the right to run for president, for example, Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign for the 2016 election. Without women, the men wouldn't know how to address female based issues, such as abortion rights and contraception laws because they aren’t females.
Some things that have changed because of women holding government positions is the ratification of the 19th amendment which states, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.” , a similar idea is stated in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 2 says “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status” , also Congress has established a pro-choice right to abortion for women, as well as Title IX (9) which gives females the right to participate in sports at the high school, collegiate, and professional level. Women can join the military hold clergy positions. In 1973 the US government got rid of the “women only” military branches and women were allowed to participate on the battlefield fully.
some statistics regarding government-
Economy- Back In 1840 women were not allowed to divorce their husbands or own property, today they have the right to marry or to not marry and to own houses. In fact, the right to divorce effects and helps the economy because they need more houses, more jobs, and more products because one family has been split into two. It increases a woman’s economic role in society and creates more taxes to provide two salaries. Giving women equal rights as men is slowly decreasing the amount of gender discrimination. Letting women hold jobs is one of the best ideas of society. Having a male only functioning society would be limiting the amount of workers. If a woman can open a business faster and have it be more successful than a men, the government needs to let her do it because it opens more jobs for people, letting the government raise the taxes.
