Culture & Communication Skills
Culture- The feminist movement has effected culture because a lot of society's "sterotypes" have been diminished. Our household culture has changed, today e have gotten rid of the stereotypical “stay-at-home mom” , now there are men who stay home and cook and clean while the wife works. Now, women can get full educations and study STEM majors. Also, the women’s rights movement has brought attention to issues such as sexual assault and domestic violence. These issues are stereotypically against women, but men are very much targets as well as up to 40%. We have brought special attention to the men dealing with this with the help of charities and organizations such as RAINN which is the rape, abuse, incest network. . We have young girls winning Nobel Prizes for education equality. Service members are men and women, anyone can study to be a doctor or scientists. These kinds of “breakthroughs” would not have been possible without Stanton and the Declaration of Sentiments explaining that women were just as capable of work than men were.
A movement for a stop to gender discrimination in in progress. Gender discrimination is a common civil rights violation, it takes the form of domestic violence, sexual assault, pregnancy discrimination, unequal pay and more. One of the biggest issues that we still have today is the gender wage gap. The gender wage gap is the difference in pay women and men have for doing the same amount of work. In the United States, white, middle class women earn 77 cents per each dollar a white man makes, its even less for the minority women. Black women earn 64 cents per dollar and Latina women earn 55 cents for each dollar a white man makes. This goes back to the effect on government, the gender wage gap will not close unless it is known about, and how will the government know about it? Because of the feminist movement MAKING it known, which is why we have women and men who support the movement as an important part of every different countries’ governments, Congress, and the House of Representatives. The culture in our society is greatly affected by the women's movement. Many stereotypes have been diminished. For example, in America in 1840 women didn’t have any say in anything, and still today in some countries, every decision was decided by her father, her brother, or her husband. She was judged by her community if she didn’t marry. Today women and men can marry or not marry, and if they do choose to marry they can legally marry whoever they want. The feminist movement has given all couples more options including LGBT and bi-racial couples.
